Position Title: FEA R&D

Job Description:
As FEA Modeling R&D Engineer you will contribute to solve problems in medical device design through the use of advanced computational modelling technologies. The emphasis will be on modeling systems to predict forces, deflections, stress, strain, temperatures, vibrations, flows and currents within complex medical device use cases. The FEA Modeling R&D Engineer will formulate a modelling approach that will address those requirements, independently carry out the modelling activities and research and provide concise communication of the results through technical reports and presentations.
You will be involved in designing innovative products focus on diseases and conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, and airway systems.
Responsibilities:
- Perform theoretical and finite element analysis (FEA) calculations to predict system behavior. You will develop technical solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of creativity and critical thinking.
- Utilize finite element analysis to assist in the design and simulation of gastrointestinal devices and accessories
- Perform analysis of new designs with multiple components
- Serve as modelling subject matter expert for our product development team
- Perform model validation with hand calculations and physical test correlation
- Provide regular status updates to management
- Prepare reports and presentations to communicate technical assessments and analysis results
- Contribute toward inventions, new designs and techniques regarded as advances in the medical community
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical or Engineering Physics
- 2 years of experience in finite element analysis, or Master’s or Doctorate degree in field with 2 years relevant experience
- Ability to understand and define mechanical models for complex devices interacting with biological tissue
- Ability to perform FEA for the purpose of device design, optimization, testing verification, method validation
- Ability to write scripts/programs to perform calculations and control model outcomes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to efficiently manage a large quantity of data and calculations
- Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Ability to learn and apply new knowledge quickly
- Ability to work in Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Nice to Have
- Knowledge and application of ANSYS suite of tools
- Knowledge and experience modelling behaviour of plastics, metals & biological tissue
- Experience with system design optimization practices and statistical methods
- Medical device experience
